Need a .ma domain holder change? Company takeover, moving the domain to the company’s legal name, or fixing an incorrect registrant: the process is controlled by the registry.
Here are the documents to prepare, the PDF form to fill and sign, the fees to expect, and the usual timeline of 2 to 5 business days.
When do you need a holder change?
A holder change (voluntary transfer) is required when the legal owner of the .ma changes, for example:
- individual → company (or the reverse);
- business sale / takeover;
- correction of a holder that does not match official documents;
- transfer to a partner or new rightful owner.
Note: this is not a registrar change. For an EPP / unreachable-provider issue, see: .ma registrar dispute.
Required documents
Prepare documents for both parties:
| Party | Document |
|---|---|
| Current holder | National ID (individual) or trade register / Modèle 7 (company) |
| New holder | National ID (individual) or trade register / Modèle 7 (company) |
Names on the documents must be consistent with the form. A spelling mismatch can slow or block the file.
PDF form to fill and sign
The transfer uses a holder change / transfer form:
- Download the PDF form:
.ma holder change form (PDF) - Fill in every section (domain, current holder, new holder, contact details).
- Have the form signed by the current holder and the new holder (or their authorized representatives).
- Attach IDs / company papers for both parties.
- Submit the full file to your ANRT-accredited registrar.
Without complete signatures and attachments, the request cannot proceed.
Holder-change fees
A holder change is billed by the registrar (it is not usually a free cosmetic update). Expect a holder-transfer fee, plus a new registration date: the term is extended by one year from the date the change is completed.
Timeline: 2 to 5 business days
Once the file is complete (signed form + ID/RC for both parties + fee payment), processing usually takes 2 to 5 business days.
It can take longer if:
- the form is incomplete or improperly signed;
- documents are unreadable or expired;
- the holder name does not match the papers;
- the domain is not active (e.g. suspension / ServerHold must be fixed first).
If your .ma is already suspended, resolve that first: suspended .ma domain: what to do?.
Steps at a glance
- Download the PDF form
- Fill it and get it signed by both parties
- Attach ID or company papers for the current holder + ID or company papers for the new holder
- Pay the holder-change fee (includes a one-year extension)
- Submit the file to an accredited registrar
- Wait 2 to 5 business days and check WHOIS
After validation, WHOIS should show the new holder.
Best practices
- Use official names (ID / legal company name), not nicknames.
- Scan documents in good quality (front and back if requested).
- Keep a dated copy of the signed form and submissions.
- Do not start a registrar transfer in parallel unless clearly instructed.
